The end of the world is a thought of dread for almost everyone on the planet. When will it happen? How will it happen? Will there be anyone left? How can we prepare for such an event? When it comes to the end of the world many believe that it really won’t be the end, just the death of countless millions and a drastic change of the world’s regions due to some catastrophic event. With this optimistic way of thinking, they have begun to make plans to continue after the apocalypse. To live in a post-apocalyptic world will take much preparation. Do you have what it takes? Let’s find out.

First and foremost, you have to actually survive Armageddon. You can do this by living in a well prepared place, preferably in a high altitude area, like the mountains. Even more so, after securing such a location you might want to think about digging an underground shelter. There are many ways to build the shelter, you just have to find the right one for you. Some people choose the hay bale method, which is actually quite inexpensive and can turn out very nice if done correctly. Some use old cargo containers or school buses, supported on a concrete foundation and then buried. This is a more expensive method of creating an underground shelter.

Next, you MUST have enough food and water to last for an extreme period of time. Things may never return to what we look at as normal. Stock up on canned goods, water, and dried or dehydrated goods, which may come in an air-tight container. Save 2-liter bottles and store water, as well as, buy all of the bottled water in the store. Buy seeds for fresh vegetable crops. Stock up on vitamins and any medications you may be on. There likely will not be a pharmacy available anymore. Just to be clear, “stock up” means “have so much that it is borderline insanity”.

Have plenty of warm blankets and cold weather clothing. Install wood burning stoves in your shelters, as electricity is on it’s way out and probably won’t be coming back for a very long time. These are all simple preparations that can make post-apocalyptic life easier. Another way to stay warm is to use candles. Not only do they serve s a light source(remember, electricity is going bye bye), but in a prepared group sleeping area they can provide enough heat to keep an entire room warm.

Remember the five “C’s” of survival as well. These are Cutting tool, Combustion device, Container, Cordage, and Cover. These are essential for survival. So, why should the end of the world be any different? It shouldn’t. Plain and simple. I do hope this has been informative and helps you on your path of end of the world survival tactics.
