How to Survive Armageddon - 3 Basic Tips
The world, they say, is coming to an end. Some say the world will end in a hail of fire. Others say it's an earthquake that will destroy everything. Then, there are those who say it's a polar shift that will end the world as we know it by December 31, 2012. Let us suppose calamities - each one more dramatic than the last - do happen the way they have been foretold. Do you know how to survive Armageddon? Are you ready for the end of the world?
There is not one blueprint that guarantees survival by a hundred percent but here are some basic tips to get you started.
1. Look Out for Immediate Dangers
If and when the world ends, there are immediate dangers to keep an eye out for. The first is nuclear power plants. Check if there is one near your home. This is important. If the world comes crumbling, these plants will be ultimately shut down. Once they are shut down, they pose a huge a danger to everyone. The water that is used for cooling the reactor will simply evaporate. Without water to cool the reactors down, a melt-down is unavoidable. Unless you are an expert on radioactive waste and can dispose it safely yourself, you will need to take your family as far away from the nuclear power stations as possible.
Another immediate danger is social degradation. You do not need to be an expert on how to survive Armageddon to figure out that after horrific calamities, looting and other acts of violence are bound to occur almost immediately. Arm your family, if you have to, and be sure to avoid major cities where most of the population are.
2. Find Shelter and Protection
Stay where it's easiest to get supplies, food, and water. If you cannot travel or simply do not want to move your family around, your safest bet is to put up a walled community. This is costly and risky. You cannot build a fortress without spending money and attracting attention so be prepared for both challenges. Enlist the help of friends and other people who are as concerned as you over how to survive Armageddon. Make sure your fortress can withstand a siege and that you have an able militia, no matter how makeshift this militia is. You will have to lay down rules to prevent violence within your walled community.
3. Acquire Supplies
Securing enough supplies for your family or your walled community will be tough. You can raid other communities but this will only earn you enemies. The only viable alternative is to use what is available to you. Look for the nearest local fresh water supply. Or, dig a well.
